About the Shaky Head

A shaky head is a finesse jig head — typically 1/8 to 3/8 oz — paired with a straight-tail worm that stands upright off the bottom. The hook is exposed, giving the worm a quivering, shaking action on a light drag. This rig is the most reliable finesse technique for bass when conditions get tough: clear water, cold fronts, high pressure, heavily pressured fisheries. Drag it slowly along the bottom, give it a subtle shake, and let the tail do the work. Smallmouth in particular find this presentation almost impossible to resist.
