Fishing Knot Guide
Overlap the two lines you want to join by about 12 inches.
Wrap one tag end around the other standing line 5 times, working away from the center.
Bring the tag end back to the center and pass it through the loop between the two lines.
Hold that tag end and wrap the other tag end around the first standing line 5 times in the opposite direction.
Pass that tag end through the same center loop, but from the opposite side.
Wet the knot thoroughly and slowly pull both standing lines until the wraps tighten together.
Trim both tag ends.
Pro Tip
The blood knot works best when both lines are within 2 lb test of each other. For very different diameters, use the double uni instead.
The Blood Knot (Line to Line) is best suited for monofilament and fluorocarbon and similar diameter lines lines. With a breaking strength of 85% line strength, it's a reliable choice for connecting your line to hooks, lures, or swivels. This knot takes a bit of practice to tie consistently, but becomes quick once you have the muscle memory.
