Fishing Knot Guide
Overlap the two lines you want to join by about 6 inches, pointing in opposite directions.
Tie a standard uni knot with the first line, making 4–6 wraps around both lines.
Pull the tag end tight to complete the first uni knot.
Turn the whole setup around and tie a second uni knot with the other line, same way.
Pull both standing lines in opposite directions to slide the two knots together.
Trim both tag ends and test the connection.
Pro Tip
The most important connection in modern fishing — connecting braid mainline to a fluorocarbon leader. Use 8 wraps on the braid side and 4 on the fluoro side for the best result.
The Double Uni Knot (Line to Line) is best suited for monofilament and fluorocarbon and braid and braid-to-leader connection lines. With a breaking strength of 85–90% line strength, it's a reliable choice for connecting your line to hooks, lures, or swivels. This knot takes a bit of practice to tie consistently, but becomes quick once you have the muscle memory.
