Fishing Knot Guide
Thread 6 inches of line through the hook eye and double it back parallel to the standing line.
Create a loop by wrapping the tag end over both strands.
Pass the tag end through the loop 4–6 times (6 times for braid, 4–5 for mono/fluoro).
Wet the knot and pull the tag end to tighten the loops.
Slide the knot down to the eye by pulling the standing line, and trim the tag end.
Pro Tip
The uni knot works with any line type and is also used for the double uni (line-to-line connection). Learn this one and you can tie two lines together with two back-to-back uni knots.
The Uni Knot is best suited for monofilament and fluorocarbon and braid lines. With a breaking strength of 90% line strength, it's a reliable choice for connecting your line to hooks, lures, or swivels. This is an easy knot to learn and should be one of the first knots every angler masters.
